Frederick County Bank #GoLocal Social Media Campaign

Social Media • Facebook • Instagram • Photography

Project Objective: Make a local community bank more engaging on Instagram. The goal was to highlight why where you bank matters.

Strategy: Community banks and local restaurants go together like peanut butter and jelly. Frederick has many locally-owned eateries, and Frederick County Bank knew there was an opportunity to piggyback on that industry to expand its reach and customer base.

The goal was to tag local businesses and remind our customers and the public why where you bank matters.

My Role: I designed, launched, and monitored this campaign while working as the in-house Digital Marketing Specialist. I created and curated content and reported on success.

Results: This weekly campaign ran for nearly 3 years and earned more organic reach and engagement than previous posts.

Others within the Bank started to participate and send photos for the campaign. Local businesses and residents came to connect the bank with being a supporter of the local economy. Many businesses asked how they could be featured.

Weekly #GoLocal Posts

Sample photos from the #GoLocal campaign. I looked to feature clients, new businesses, local hotspots, and fun activities. The photography style is bright, personable, and always positive.

Invited Behind the Scenes

Part of the story: The #GoLocal campaign was popular with local businesses. The Bank started getting invitations to go behind the scenes and get additional photos to share. I had the opportunity to help Tenth Ward Distilling Company bottle and label their brand new Absinthe.

Team Participation

Part of the culture: The #GoLocal movement took root in the Bank’s company culture. Teams celebrated with group lunches and started sending photographs for marketing to post. The Bank had always been a big supporter of local businesses, but this campaign became a clear way to celebrate the dedication.
